New Research Alert @ BMC Oral Health: Assessment of various etiological factors for oral squamous cell carcinoma in non-habit patients-a cross sectional case control study

Unraveling the Causes of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Non-Habit Patients! Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most prevalent cancers, often linked to tobacco and alcohol use. But what about patients who develop OSCC without these habits? A groundbreaking study explores alternative causes, shedding light on genetic mutations, microbial infections, dental trauma, and oxidative stress.

 Key Findings:
Genetic Mutations: Novel pathogenic HRAS gene mutations linked to NHOSCC.
Microbial Factors: Significant association between HSV-1 infection and NHOSCC.
Dental Trauma: Regressive changes like sharp or broken teeth increase risk.
Oxidative Stress: Lower antioxidant levels contribute to NHOSCC development.

Why It Matters: This research challenges traditional beliefs about OSCC causation and opens new doors for prevention, early detection, and treatment strategies.
